The company was founded by Or Yogev, a veteran energy researcher holding a mechanical engineering Ph.D from CalTech university.

Since its inception, we have been developing different elements that are required to create the most efficient Isothermal compressed air energy storage (I-CAES) solutions. Our core developments are:

1. Proprietary underground pressure chambers in which gases and liquids can be stored and pressurized.

2. Proprietary liquid piston process which enables highly efficient isothermal compression and expansion of air. 

 

Our interdisciplinary team of engineers is putting the theory into practice at Augwind’s 2 R&D sites, and at our collaboration partners’ facilities. While some of our innovations are already commercial, Augwind’s north star has remained the development of the AirBattery- a grid-scale multi-day energy storage system.

 

Our goal is to bring net zero one step closer by enabling energy transition pioneers to bridge long supply and demand gaps. This would allow further reliance on wind & solar.

In 2021 Augwind became a publicly traded company in the Israeli stock exchange (TASE:AUGN)
